Garry Kasparov is considered to be the greatest chess player of all time. He won the World Chess Championship in 1985 and held that title for 15 years.
When he retired in March 2005, he was the No. 1 ranked chess player in the world for more than 20 years.
Since that time, he has devoted his time to politics. He is chairman of the United Civil Front and the political leader of The Other Russia coalition, which is a group of opposition parties fighting not to win elections, but to have elections.
His charitable work includes the Kasparov Chess Foundation in New York. Kasparov has authored many books and is a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal.
